Even on ultra modern folding machines, the operator needs to flip the part when the folding direction changes. The UpDownBend folds the part up and down revolutionising the entire folding sequence. This unique folding system reduces cycle times and eliminates the need for a second operator. The UpDownBend bends up to 4mm thick mild steel in both directions, clamps the upper and folding beam tools automatically, offers generous free space around the tools and automatically adjusts for material thickness and bend radius.

The UpDownBend operator simply positions the part against the gauging system. The new sheet support/gauging system automatically adjusts its size to the current folding position. When parts are small or narrow the table surface area decreases. On large sheets this surface unfolds to its maximum dimension. Thus the workpiece is constantly supported, and the operator does not need to lift the support blank.
